J. P. Cuevas
Butler University Music Composition BM, Class of '28
Joshua Cuevas (J. P. Cuevas) is a musician currently studying composition at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. A member of the Latino-American community, he seeks to explore deeper how cultures interact with each other, as well as what being human means, through music.
Having performed in marching band, orchestras, and concert bands all through middle and high school, performance, connection, and community are most important to him and his music. In this time when community and thoughtfulness is under attack, he seeks to promote complex and emotional art.
His works have been premiered by the Atlas Flute Quartet, Butler New Music Ensemble, and Sound Ecologies, and is a member of the Butler Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Chorale, as well as a founder of the Atlas Flute Quartet.
